DIESEL2000™ Product Information


DIESEL2000™ (available in coloured or clear fuel) has a lower sulphur content than what is specified by the Canadian General Standards Board (without the need for a lubricity additive). In addition, DIESEL2000™’s cetane rating meets or exceeds the Canadian General Standards Board specification which satisfies a wide range of diesel engines under varying operating conditions.

DIESEL2000™ fuels are seasonally adjusted using a computer controlled blending system to ensure consistent quality and product flow under various temperatures (cloud point). A stability improver additive also prevents sludge buildup in the tank and provides longer storage life.

DIESEL2000™ is also available to our Motorist and Fleet customers.

DIESEL3000™ Product Information








In August 2003, UPI added DIESEL3000™, a blend of soybean based methyl ester and UPI's high quality conventional diesel fuel, to its extensive line of environmentally friendlier product offerings. By doing so, UPI became the first energy supplier in Ontario to offer biodiesel to the farm market. UPI offers DIESEL3000™ with methyl ester in blends of 2%, 5% and 10%.

There are many benefits to using UPI's DIESEL3000™, compared to conventional diesel fuel. Biodiesel helps reduce the emissions of sulphur and sulphur oxides, which are major contributors to acid rain. The benefit of using soybean methyl ester is the fact that it is produced from a renewable source (soybeans) and is biodegradable. Therefore, using DIESEL3000™ reduces our dependency on crude oil and increases demand for domestic agricultural products such as soybeans.

UPI's DIESEL3000™ also has a higher cetane number compared to conventional petroleum diesel fuel, which means it burns better in diesel engines (cetane is to diesel fuel what octane is to gasoline). Furthermore, DIESEL3000™ offers better fuel lubricity, which can lead to increased life of fuel injectors and fuel pumps.
UPI is distributing DIESEL3000™ from its Bulk Plant in Guelph and currently offers biodiesel fuel to the agricultural community throughout southwestern Ontario for on the farm use.
